The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences, Inc. (FAES) is a nonprofit organization committed to lifelong learning and professional development. Located at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, FAES was created in 1959 to foster collaboration and community among scientists - allowing the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and access to the latest knowledge, tools, and techniques to move science forward.

FAES microcredentials demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and supplement traditional academic credentials by recognizing achievement and skill in new topics that professionals may earn at any point in their careers. FAES issues digital badges to display on social media sites and CVs upon successful completion of courses and/or workshop requirements associated with each microcredential. FAES offers microcredentials in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, Leadership, Project Management, Public Policy and more!

Courses are offered according to our Academic Calendar, while Workshops are offered year-round. Courses are offered during two 7-week terms in fall, two 7-week terms in Spring, and one 7-week summer term.
