Employment Opportunities
The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) is a distinctive educational organization located within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. Our mission is to support the biomedical community by fostering innovation and collaboration both within and beyond the NIH.
Our Mission
FAES is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the professional life at the NIH through advanced educational programs and various activities. Our initiatives align with NIH's mission of conducting research and training in the biomedical sciences, complementing its efforts with our unique offerings.
Our History
Established in 1959 by 11 NIH scientists, FAES was created to nurture a collegial environment and provide educational opportunities and professional services to the scientific community. Over the years, we have expanded our reach beyond the Bethesda campus to serve NIH sites in Frederick, Rockledge, Baltimore, Arizona, North Carolina, and Montana. In 1984, we broadened our services by introducing short-term lectures and laboratory workshops through our biotechnology training program.
Our Offerings
Today, FAES provides approximately 150 academic credit-bearing courses and over 60 biotechnology training workshops annually. We also host musical performances and offer management and leadership training for scientists eager to bridge the gap between science and business or other fields. Additionally, we manage conferences for NIH members and affiliated organizations. Since our inception, we have educated over 150,000 individuals and continue to expand our educational opportunities.
Benefits
Our competitive compensation packages include full-time benefits such as 100% FAES-paid premiums for health, vision, and dental insurance for individuals and families, substantial support for educational and professional development, and observance of all federal holidays.
Equal Opportunity Employer
FAES provides equal employment opportunities for all applicants and employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, marital status, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other category protected by applicable federal and state law, or local ordinance.
