What is a microcredential?
A micro-credential demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning. Micro-credentials supplement traditional academic credentials by recognizing achievement and skill in new topics that professionals may earn at any point in their careers. At FAES, most micro-credentials could be earned through successfully completing a specific series of courses and/or workshops.

FAES Teacher: Phill Leder, MD (1934-2020)
Phil Leder’s graduate students affectionately remember him as brilliant teacher, life-long mentor, and visionary scientist. Leder taught DNA replication, transcription, and translation at FAES, he also served as FAES vice president and president (1970-1973). Dr. Leder’s brand of mentorship inspires FAES faculty and students today.
To honor Leder’s contribution, FAES dedicated the Phil Leder House in November of 2023. This Bethesda NIH off-campus housing and meeting space provides early career NIH researchers with an inspiring place to live and collaborate in the same spirt as Dr. Leder did.
